Mechanical Seals, Rotary Joints & Rotary Unions — Manufactured in Mumbai, India

Need to stop leakage around a rotating shaft, replace a failing or imported seal, or transfer steam, hot oil, water, coolant, air or gas into rotating machinery?

Ashish Seals India has manufactured industrial sealing products in Mumbai since 2005. Our four product families — mechanical seals, rotary joints, rotary unions and thermosyphon pot systems — are designed, machined and tested in-house under our ISO 9001:2015 system, and supplied as standard, custom and replacement products to plants across India and export markets.

They serve pumps, agitators, mixers, reactors, vessels, dryers, blenders, drums, rolls, cylinders and machine-tool spindles across chemical, pharmaceutical, paper, textile, steel, food, power and general engineering industries.

A note on terminology: buyers use mechanical seal, shaft seal and pump seal for the same requirement, and rotary joint and rotary union interchangeably. Products that look identical outside can have different faces, elastomers and pressure limits inside — so we select from your equipment, medium, pressure, temperature and speed, never from the product name or a photo alone.

Mechanical Seals (Shaft Seals)

A mechanical seal controls liquid, vapour or gas leakage where a rotating shaft passes through the stationary casing of a pump, agitator, mixer, reactor, dryer, blender or vessel. We manufacture the complete range:

Rotary Joints

A rotary joint transfers steam, water, hot oil or thermic fluid between stationary piping and a rotating drum, roll or cylinder — the workhorse connection on drying cylinders, heated and cooling rolls, calenders and corrugators in the paper, textile, packaging, rubber and food industries.

We manufacture rotary joints in MS, SS 304 and SS 316 construction:

Single-Flow Rotary Joints

Single-Flow Rotary Joints

One passage, supply or return.

Dual-Flow Rotary Joints

Dual-Flow Rotary Joints

Supply and return through one assembly, with siphon arrangements for condensate removal.

Thermic-Fluid Rotary Joints

Thermic-Fluid Rotary Joints

For hot-oil circulation through heated rolls and thermal-process machinery.

Selection is based on the medium, pressure, temperature, rotational speed, connection size and mounting orientation — send your machine details or drawing and we'll specify the right joint.

Rotary Unions

A rotary union provides a sealed media connection between stationary piping and a rotating shaft, spindle or machine component — carrying water, coolant, oil, air, gas, hydraulic fluid and other compatible media into machine-tool spindles, hose reels, and automated and hydraulic machinery.

Available in MS, SS 304 and SS 316, in these configurations:

Single-Flow Rotary Unions

Single-Flow Rotary Unions

Rotary Joint vs Rotary Union — What's the Difference?

In practice: rotary joints serve rotating drums, rolls and cylinders (paper machines, dryers, calenders), while rotary unions serve rotating shafts and spindles (machine tools, hydraulic and pneumatic systems), often at higher speeds with multiple passages. The terms overlap in industry usage, so we confirm the correct product from your equipment construction and operating conditions — not the name you searched for.

Thermosyphon Pot Systems

A thermosyphon pot stores and circulates barrier or buffer fluid around a double mechanical seal, keeping the seal faces lubricated and cooled on pumps, agitators, mixers and reactors handling hazardous, volatile or poorly lubricating fluids.

Thermosyphon Pot System

Thermosyphon Pot System

We build thermosyphon systems to your seal arrangement and process pressure: pressurised or unpressurised, with cooling coils, level/pressure/temperature instrumentation, and connection sizes and materials to match your installation.

Standard, Custom and Replacement Products

Standard

Proven configurations across all four families, ready to specify from your operating data.

Replacement

We reverse-engineer seals, joints and unions from your sample, drawing, photographs or measured dimensions, including equivalents for imported and discontinued products with long OEM lead times. External appearance alone is never enough: we verify the replacement against your actual fluid, pressure and temperature before manufacturing.

Custom

Non-standard shaft diameters, restricted installation space, unusual connections, corrosive media, high/low temperatures, vacuum service, special speeds and OEM equipment-builder requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a mechanical seal the same as a shaft seal?

Buyers use the terms interchangeably. A mechanical seal is the face-type seal we manufacture; "shaft seal" is broader and also covers lip seals, oil seals and packing.

What is the difference between a rotary joint and a rotary union?

Rotary joints serve rotating drums, rolls and cylinders; rotary unions serve rotating shafts and spindles, often at higher speeds. Usage overlaps, so we confirm from your equipment and conditions.

What does a thermosyphon pot system do?

It circulates barrier or buffer fluid around a double mechanical seal to lubricate and cool the faces — essential for hazardous, volatile or poorly lubricating process fluids.

Can you manufacture a replacement from a sample or drawing?

Yes — this is a core service. We reverse-measure the sample or work from your drawing, then verify materials against your operating conditions before manufacturing.

Which materials are your rotary joints and unions made in?

MS, SS 304 and SS 316 as standard, with internal seals matched to the medium and temperature.

Do you supply outside Mumbai?

Yes — we supply across India and to international buyers, with export documentation support.

What information do you need for a quotation?

Equipment details, shaft/connection size, medium, pressure, temperature, speed, flow or seal arrangement, and a drawing, sample or photos if available.

Do you make seals for glass-lined reactors?

Yes — GLR mechanical seals are part of our reactor seal range, in single, double and dry-running configurations.
