Working Principle
Conical Spring Unbalanced Seal is a compact design seal that removes the need of extra axial and radial space for its installation. It is developed to resist extreme corrosive chemicals such as salts, concentrated acids, strong reducing and oxidizing agents.
The seal is a single conical spring, unbalanced seal that has an O-ring that is provided for secondary sealing purposes. As the torque transmission is done by the single coil springs, these seals depend on the rotation’s directions. This is seen from the drive end of the shaft. Due to the presence of taper spring having different dimensions, it suits many media.
Left handed & right handed springs are providers for anticlockwise and clockwise rotating shafts respectively. It can easily be dismantled and assembled as it has fewer parts. The seals are known to handle contaminated liquid and thus, spring clogging does not take place.
